To develop its 'Five Million Trees' plantation program, RACHNA is piloting a community led plantation and protection program in a cluster of 6 villages near the sources of the Ganges River. The practical learning of this program have been utilized to develop a large program aimed at planting 5 million native fodder, fruit and firewood trees in the Himalayan region by using an innovative community mobilization and empowerment methodology and by developing innovative methods for building partnership with urban public schools, individuals, corporate sector, government programs, NGOs and volunteers.
