Building a Green Constituency

RACHNA will be advocating for policy change and effective implementation of environmental laws and programs in the Himalayan region by building a green constituency/membership based network of local community members, green businesses, visitors, social workers and media persons. In addition to policy advocacy work, this network will also help in marketing, engaging visitors in creative environmental work and mobilizing resources for green entrepreneurs.

RACHNA will be developing new awareness material/ literature and tools for sharing with the policy players, visitors, and local communities to establish need of responsible behavior and activities in the Himalayan region.

For example, the issue of rapid spread of Chir Pine (Pinus roxburghii) plant in the Garhwal region needs to be highlighted among the stakeholders. Hence, RACHNA has initiated a study to analyze the policy framework, and social as well as natural factors that have promoted the spread of Chir Pine in the region and its consequences on the nature, society and economy.
